Inverness has many fine churches and in September St Andrew’s Cathedral celebrates 150 years since its completion.
The cathedral was the focal point for the development of the riverside. It was designed by the renowned Alexander Ross and incorporates ideas and details inspired by historic cathedrals from Scotland and Europe. The rich stone detailing is alive with images of plants and animals.

We are delighted to be supporting the celebrations by giving a talk on the architecture of the Cathedral and the work of Alexander Ross. We will be revealing the secrets of Gothic architecture in Scotland, how these informed the work of Ross and how he would go on to become one of the most successful architects of the Victorian era.
The talk is part to the Doors Open Day programme and will take place on Saturday 7th September at 7.30pm in the Cathedral.
